Applicants in this category must have had one season of at least three performances in the past two years and must project a season of at least three public concerts during the grant period.

Opera companies must produce at least two fully staged opera productions with orchestra, or one fully staged opera with orchestra plus a minimum of one concert (group vocal) recital accompanied by an instrumental ensemble.

The online application form includes the following questions and a project budget. Required support materials are listed below.

Please note that the Events Schedule (online supplemental form) must be completed as part of this request.

Service to the Public

6. Audience/Marketing

7. Community Context
Are there other organizations providing similar musical performances in your community? If so, describe your work in partnership with these or other organizations, if any.

Support Materials

Support materials must be postmarked or hand-delivered to the program by the application deadline. If you would like support materials returned, please provide a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Support materials enable NYSCA music program staff and panelists, many of whom may be unfamiliar with your work, to get to know your organization better. Please choose materials that you think best represent the current work of your organization.

The Music Program requires that you send:

1. 3 copies each of one or two CDs or DVDs. The recording should include a variety of works, and should be from one or more recent (i.e., within the last year or two) performances.

Be sure to mark each disk clearly and neatly with the name of your organization, the composer, title, and timing of each work performed, and the date of the performance.

2. 8 copies of relevant printed material (e.g. seasonal brochure, flyer). Choose only one or two samples that best reflect your organization’s current work. If you wish to include a press kit, please send no more than three copies. We do not use reviews from newspapers or other media coverage in our deliberations, although you are welcome to send one copy of such coverage or any other printed materials for internal review.

Please note that staff, panel, and Council pay careful attention to your website when considering your request to NYSCA. We therefore encourage you to keep the site up to date, listing current concert dates, programs, and venues as they become available. Although panel will listen to your submitted CDs or DVDs, many will also wish to listen to one or more sound samples if you have them available on your website.
