General
Program Support
Registration
deadline: January 22, 2010 General Program Support (GPS)
provides unrestricted
support for ongoing institutional activities of museums that are
operated as independent entities within other organizations, or to
those that do not own the collections they interpret. The
Council
examines the nature, scope, and quality of an organization's programs
and activities, its managerial and fiscal competence and public service
when considering the provision and level of GOS support. GPS
support reflects NYSCA's recognition of the artistic, programmatic and
organizational capabilities of qualified arts and cultural
organizations. GPS grants will be no less than $5,000, and will not exceed 25% of an organization's budget. In the Museum Program, GPS awards for Museums are often less than 8% of an organization’s budget. GPS support is awarded on a multi-year basis. General Program Support is intended to serve Arts and cultural organizations that have significant activities in the museum field. Example: a multi-arts center which includes a museum, or an organization that is both a museum and a libraryOrganizations that are not primarily arts or cultural organizations but have significant cultural programming. Example: Museums that are operated as independent entities within a college or university Organizations that are non-collecting institutions, yet meet the professional standards and definition of a museum. Example: Children’s museums which do not own a permanent collection. Eligibility Criteria To be eligible to apply for GPS, the organization must meet each of the following conditions.
