  Museum Education and Interpretation

Registration deadline: March 3
Application deadlines: April 1, July 1, September 5

Creatively engaging communities of all ages in mission-related projects that focus on a clear theme, provide context, and interpret collections is the priority of this category. We seek projects that respond to the needs of a community by deepening or developing new audiences.

The Program funds discrete projects rather than the totality of a museum education department. Requests may involve planning and/or implementation. Support may be requested for such activities as lifelong learning, youth and family programs, new audiences, interpretive plans, and evaluation projects. Collaborative projects are also welcome.

For project support related to a temporary exhibition, please see the Exhibitions category.

Organizations may apply for up to three years of support in this category for the same project. If support is requested for a second or third year, applicants must describe and present work already accomplished to justify continued support.
