  Services to the Field

Registration deadline: March 3
Application deadlines: May 1, July 1, September 5

Support is available for activities designed to improve technical, programmatic, and managerial practices in the folk arts. Requests may include promotional materials and services for folk artists, technical assistance, professional development workshops, conferences, projects that utilize new technologies, regrant programs, technical assistance and internships, and training in documentation, archiving, and public programs. Priority is given to services for individual folk artists and activities of regional or statewide impact and significance.

Publications in print and electronic media that contribute to the public understanding of a folk art are also supported through this category. Publication projects should be accessible to both specialists and general readers. The types of publications eligible for support include websites devoted to folk arts with relevant image, sound and/or video files, tune books, and special issues of journals and magazines devoted to the folk arts. Newsletters are not supported through this category. Applicants for print publications must complete the publication form attached to the on-line application.
