  General Exhibition

Registration deadline: February 22, 2011
Application deadline: April 1, 2011

Support in this category is available for the public presentation of film, video, installation work, sound art and new media offered in cinemas, community centers, galleries, libraries and museums or through a variety of communications technologies, including radio and the Internet. The presentation of work by New York State artists is strongly encouraged. Programming including youth media is also welcome. Touring exhibitions that circulate to three or more sites throughout New York State are also encouraged.

Interdisciplinary exhibition projects will be considered when they are predominantly moving image-based media and/or sound art work. Organizations may not apply to the Electronic Media and Film if applying to another NYSCA discipline area for the same project.

Applicants are encouraged to speak with staff in advance of the registration deadline.

Eligibility

Applicants to General Exhibition are eligible for support of sound work, moving image media, video and/or film installations in a gallery, museum, or outdoor venue, including radio and Internet.

Projects will not be considered for support when the use of technology is in the service of another discipline or objective other than film and electronic media as an art form.

Interdisciplinary work will be considered for support when there is strong evidence of technology as an art form and as a distinct component. The core tools and process must be electronic as an aesthetic, formal and conceptual element of the work.

Application Instructions

The online application form includes the questions below. Applicants are also required to submit: online Organizational Budget for the current fiscal year, Project Budget (please use the Budget Notes section to detail income and expense items), Cultural Data Project Report and support materials.

Please note that your request amount should not exceed 50% of the total Project Budget.

First-time applicants are required to call staff before the registration deadline.
