  Services to the Field

(Competitive category)
Registration deadline: March 3
Application deadline: May 1

The Services to the Field category is designed to support development in the arts-in-education field through innovative projects that focus on improving the practice and building the capacity of the field. Requests in this category may include small research projects, regional roundtables, and other professional convenings. The maximum award for projects in this category is $40,000. Multi-year support is available in this category. Applicants in this category are encouraged to contact Program staff well before the March 3 registration deadline.


Application Instructions

The on-line application form includes the following questions, and a project budget. Complete the arts in education supplemental form as part of this request, if applicable. Required and suggested support materials are listed below.

Application Narrative Questions

1. Program Description
Briefly describe the project and how it is intended to serve the field.

2. Work Plan and Personnel
Provide a work plan in the form of a timeline of proposed activities. Identify those individuals who will be implementing the plan, and briefly describe their credentials.

3. Impact/Dissemination
Describe the anticipated impact of the proposed project for the field at large. Describe how you will disseminate the results of your project so that they may serve the field at large.

4. Evaluation/Assessment
Describe your plans for evaluating the effectiveness of the project. Provide information on the overall methodology and any tools that will be utilized.

5. Finances
Describe your plans for meeting current and future expenses of this project.


Support Materials

Support material must be postmarked or hand-delivered to the program by the application deadline. If you want support materials returned, provide a self-addressed stamped envelope.

1. Applicants whose projects represent a partnership with a school, district, or college/university must provide a written letter of agreement from the partner(s) that demonstrates support for the project (monetarily and otherwise) and outlines roles and responsibilities for each partner involved. (required)

2. Sample brochures or publications (2 copies per item) (optional)

3. Sample questionnaires, surveys or evaluations of the services (optional)

4. Resumés of key staff, consultants, and advisors (required)
