Technical Assistance Technical assistance funds are available to nonprofit organizations or municipalities for projects as diverse as building feasibility studies, condition reports of historic structures, architectural programming, and small-scale design projects. Facilities or structures for which technical assistance funding is sought must be owned or leased by a nonprofit organization or municipality and must be open to the public. Technical assistance funds cannot be used for structures owned by religious institutions or state agencies or departments. Funding is also available for managerial consultants in such areas as fundraising, strategic planning, and board development for organizations receiving institutional support from the Architecture Program. Technical assistance funds are disbursed throughout the year with a quick turnaround. The technical assistance funds will pay for 2/3 of the project costs, up to $1,500. The fee should cover a short-term consultation and a written report. In addition, funds cover the consultant's travel costs. Program staff can assist applicants in finding qualified consultants, if necessary. Contact Architecture, Planning and Design Program staff for more information on how to apply for technical assistance funds. The funds are administered by the New York Landmark Conservancy. Other Funding: NYSCA funding is made available for historic preservation documentation projects through a regrant program called Preserve New York. The Preservation League of New York State administers the regrant program, which provides support for Historic Structures Reports, Historic Landscape Reports, and Cultural Resources Surveys. Contact the League for application guidelines and the deadline. Applicants to this regrant program may not apply to the Architecture, Planning and Design program in the same year.
