  Frequently Asked Questions

How much should we request for our Design and Planning study, or for our Adaptive Use study?

The Council has no fixed percentage or ceiling for grants in these categories. However, in recent years grant amounts have ranged from $7,500 to $25,000 for consultants' fees.

Must our organization match grants that we receive from this Program?

The Architecture, Planning and Design Program does not require a formal match of its grants, except in the Institutional Development category where up to 50% of the total salary will be awarded. In other categories, the Program expects to see funds from other sources applied to the project as the Council is rarely able to fully fund any request. The one exception to this is the Independent Projects category, where the Program will fully fund the individual's request up to $10,000.

My church needs to hire an architect to redesign our support spaces to better serve our community. May we apply to this Program for those architect's fees?

No. The Council is unable to support design fees or construction costs of facilities owned by religious institutions, no matter their current use.
